At some point, after many years away from the Milwaukee area of my youth, I woke up to the scale of political power and influence contained in Milwaukee County and it struck me, in the context of titanic crises like climate change and the Post-Trump authoritarian threat. But, the juxtaposition between that realization and knowledge of the general low self-esteem of the area troubled me.
